Contract Estimator - Trainee

Ventilate Limited are the South’s leading ductwork contractor with offices in Southampton/Portsmouth and Bournemouth. We serve a wide range of projects spanning simple installations to multi million pound contracts. Due to ongoing expansion we are looking for a contract estimator who is keen to work in a modern environment with the opportunity to develop further skills

Our busy, but relaxed offices situated in Bournemouth have just over gone a complete refurbishment with heavy investment in technology and personnel.

Due to ongoing expansion we are looking for a contract estimator to work within our sales team. The ideal candidate should have some experience in reading mechanical service drawings, will be computer literate with good numeracy skills. Knowledge of Ensign estimating software would be a good asset, although training will be provided.

You will have a track record working on Mechanical Services Projects, desirably within Ductwork, with a proven background of working with AutoCAD or CAD-Duct Software as well as the drive and confidence to work in a professional office based team.

Your Skills:

• Computer literacy is a must.
• Knowledge of PDF’s and AutoCAD files for plotting drawings
• Ability to multi task and keep a track of estimates, deadlines and client contacts
• Good numeracy skills and a highly organised, driven attitude to working
• Experience of the construction industry, ideally with knowledge of ductwork, or an understanding of the issues involved
• A thick skin, sense of humor and focused outlook are very important

Estimator Responsibilties:

To successfully carry out your duties and to safeguard the company's interests in this sector of its operations; this role may require you to take on additional duties relevant to specific projects:

• Produce accurate estimates for ductwork contracts
• Work closely with chief estimator to ensure on time submission of tenders
• To contribute and participate in the successful completion of projects
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings for inputting into estimation software
• Day to day working with Ensign software, updating prices and costs
• Writing of tender letters and liasing with mechanical companies to win contracts
• Reporting back to Sales manager
